Everyone and everything was created by God and therefore
reveals something about the nature of God

At The Well we look for glimpses of God’s nature in everyone and everything

The Biblical story reminds us that God created the world and called it good. He then created humanity, breathed some of who He is into us, and called us very good. Now, even though the world itself and everyone on it, have been tarnished by sin and therefore cannot perfectly reflect God’s goodness, all of creation still reflects something of God.  What does this mean at The Well?  First, that we will use our various gifts and creative abilities to reflect God’s goodness and be a transforming influence in the places where we worship, live, work, and play. And second, that we will take seriously the glimpses of God that we see in other parts of creation.

There is nothing purely “objective” – meaning there is nothing that does not have a personal value attached to it. Why?  Because if God is Creator, and God has feelings for everything God has made, then every atom in the universe is not a neutral objective object; rather, it is the artwork - beloved artwork - of a Creator who values every square centimeter of space, every moment in time, every quark, muon, gluon, neutrino, and proton; every whale, sparrow, chipmunk, and child.  In other words, as we wander through the universe, we are not just encountering meaningless stuff; rather, we are walking through an art gallery, filled with objects full of meaning, expressiveness, revelation and the Creator’s heart, intelligence, compassion, and whimsy.

It is impossible for a Christian to have a secular job. If you follow Jesus and you are doing what you do in His name, then it is no longer secular work; it’s sacred.  You are there; God is there. The difference is our awareness. (Rob Bell)

…a slice of bread or a game of soccer may tell us of God’s goodness as sure, even if not as directly, as a tract, and this is true even if the baker and the player do not realize that their activity had been sponsored by God. (Dr. Neal Plantinga)

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth… So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1: 1 & 27)
