When it comes to Sunday morning, we want to make some important promises:
First, we promise not to bore you! All of our time is too important to spend it being bored at church.
Second, we promise that what you hear won’t just be re-worked Dr. Phil material. What we talk about on Sundays will be God’s input into our lives as we hear it in the Bible and the world around us.
Third, we promise that you can come as you are! We are more interested in your being there than in what you are wearing or what you know.
Building communities that explore and enact Christian faith through deep relationships and acts of service.
Service Worship (community development)
Jesus served people around Him with love, integrity and respect. We intend to serve Rutland in the very same way, partnering with agencies and organizations in whatever way possible so that life changing transformations are part of every day life.
For the most part, instead of creating new programs and/or activities, we are interested in partnering with existing programs, helping them be all that they are intended to be as they positively affect lives.
As we are able and gifted, we will offer our service to the community in designing programs to fill needs that are not currently being met.
What we believe about ourselves
We believe that every human being has value and is worthy of respect and honour. The heart of that conviction rests in our belief that we are all created by God. However, we live with a healthy awareness of the fact that we drop the ball, mess things up at times, and may need help to make it through life.
We believe in not only the existence of God, but that He is God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. We are convinced that God is interested in life with us and the overall redeeming of the world in which we live. He has plan for this world and for our lives.
We believe that Jesus is the Son of God. We affirm that He is fully God and fully human and that He died on a cross and rose again from the dead. We believe that in doing so He makes the forgiveness of our sins possible and life fuller and more meaningful.
We think life is an adventurous gift from God. We are convinced that it is best lived in deep relationship with God and others.
About the Bible
We affirm that the Bible is God's message for a hurting world. It reveals the heart and purposes of God in this world and as such is our best guide for life
We believe that the Bible is God's message for a hurting world. It reveals the heart and purposes of God and provides us with His plan for life.
We also believe that prayer is as important as the air we breathe. It’s the way in which Jesus will provide direction for our ministries, and the way in which the Spirit of God will empower our otherwise feeble efforts.
Drawing on our understanding of the Bible, and humbly seeking God’s direction through prayer, we have outlined the following core values:
EVERY LIFE HAS VALUE...
...so our every action and interaction is rooted in unconditional love.
EVERYONE NEEDS A SAFE PLACE TO BELONG...
...so we seek to provide a comfortable, supportive environment for all participants.
EVERYONE HAS SOMETHING TO OFFER OTHERS...
...so our everyday “Service Worship” activities are as important as our Sunday “Worship Service” activities.
EVERYONE HAS SOMETHING IN THEIR LIFE WORTH CELEBRATING...
...so fun filled celebrations of all kinds are an important part of who we are.
EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE WAS CREATED BY GOD AND THEREFORE REVEALS SOMETHING ABOUT THE NATURE OF GOD...
...so we look for glimpses of God’s nature in everyone and everything.
